Hi, my name is Ana Barnes. I am 35 years old, a mother to one amazing 16 year old son, and fiance to an incredible man. My small family of three is everything to me! My family and I love to travel, are foodies, and basketball is a major in our household. I was born in Guatemala City, Guatemala. Sadly, I do not speak Spanish. I was adopted shortly before turning 3 years old and raised in Edmond, going to all Edmond schools. I am one of 11 children of Dr. Bill & Chriss Barnes. I love music, movies, art, food, and self care. I strive to maintain my own self care practices such as massages, adjustments, weight lifting, cupping, reflexology, stretching, and more!
When I was 23 years old, I hydroplaned off the Kilpatrick Turnpike. This car accident resulted in emergency pelvis surgery. I broke 5 bones in my pelvis and now live with 3, six inch screws in my pelvis. Then in 2021, I was rear ended and diagnosed with whiplash in my cervical spine. I have been diagnosed with chronic back and neck pain due to injuries sustained from these car accidents.
During my schooling in 2020, my back pain became so bad that I lost mobility and was unable to stand or walk for long periods of time. At the time, my massage therapist instructor who was also a chiropractic assistant, urged me to seek out chiropractic care. Anxious because I did not know what to expect but willing to try anything at this point, after steroid shots & aspirin had failed to help me, I had my very first adjustment. Not only did it not hurt but I was able to be mobile and pain free again!
After the car wreck in 2021, I knew immediately I had whiplash as I had seen it so many times at this point while in practice. X-rays confirmed the shift in vertebrates in my neck. Alternating heat & cold therapies, cupping therapy, scraping therapy, massage, and adjustments helped tremendously in speeding up the recovery process and with pain relief. I now get regular adjustments and massages because the two combined have worked wonders for me! My adjustments keep me mobile and my massages and other self care are my pain management! I believe in holistic therapies because I am a testament to the fact that they do work!
My own experiences led me to want to become a chiropractic assistant as well as a massage therapist so that I could help others the way that it has and continues to help me!
